Excerpts from a calendar designed for New Amsterdam Public, a non-profit organization that at the time was seeking to bring a permanent, year-round indoor market for grocers, fish and cheese mongers, and butchers to the Seaport in Lower Manhattan. The calendar was designed as a fundraising effort in association with New Amsterdam Public’s first Wintermarket, held in December 2007. The client provided the beautiful plant illustrations from an old horticulture book, and several photographers donated some of their images.
Since then, New Amsterdam Public, now New Amsterdam Market, has achieved great success. According to their website, their mission, then as now, is to support sustainable food systems, regional economies, & fair trade through an emerging small business community.
